Description: Jestico + Whiles has been appointed for demolition and redevelopment of a new 200,000 sq ft, 230 bedroom hotel-led mixed-use building on the site of the Swiss Centre on London’s Leicester Square.
As well as the 4 star hotel, the proposed building accommodates two storeys of high quality retail space facing onto Leicester Square, Swiss Court and Wardour Street, a restaurant to Lisle Street, 10 penthouse apartments with unique views across London, and three below ground levels accommodating a casino and restaurants
Externally, a fine, frosted, translucent veil etched with abstract patterns hangs over a stony, honed, monolithic inner shell. By day, the veil is calm and restrained, but as dusk falls, a delicate tinted light stains the etched veil. The intensity and colour saturation of the light can be tuned according to the time of night, the season or the special occasion.
