Colchester Academy gets planning approval

Colchester Council’s planning committee has approved the development of a new 1200 place Academy for the Colchester Academy Trust. The Academy’s lead sponsor is the Colchester Institute. The Institute supports the Academy and facilitates transformational changes in learning in a number of ways, particularly through strengthening vocational initiatives. The Academy is also co-sponsored by the University of Essex and NHS North East Essex who focus on raising educational aspirations and reducing health inequalities within the community, respectively. It is intended the new building will be completed by December 2013.
