Hard Rock Hotel opens in May. That may be less than thrilling news - but there are a couple of surprises. The architects behind the hotel (which describes itself as 'ultra-luxe', despite the trademark car in the lobby) are Jestico + Whiles, the same team who did the bar at The Shard, Aqua, and the W London, and the rooms are a lot smarter than one might expect. This beach resort is aiming itself not at gangs of hormonally-charged Euro teens but at the hordes of visiting musos, as it opens by hosting this year's International Music Summit. There will be stages for live performances, a beach club and a spa, for all your post-hard-rockin' needs.
