Cambridge West Hub featured in Dezeen

22.04.2022

Designed by Jestico + Whiles, West Hub was unveiled to the media today. Located in the heart of West Cambridge, West Hub is key to the University of Cambridge’s vision to transform the site into a lively, academic and research quarter.

The architecture represents a new building typology for the university. Following extensive consultations with both internal and external stakeholders, the Jestico + Whiles team was inspired to use its experience in other sectors to inform its designs. Drawing upon examples such as contemporary restaurants and collaborative workspaces, the practice envisioned a flexible environment that would ultimately nurture cross-departmental connection, encourage conversation and generate ‘Creative collisions’.

West Hub achieves BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and adopts many aspects of the WELL standard including generous quantities of natural light, the promotion of the use of stairs, activity based working and Biophilia – a connection with nature.
