Heinz Richardson Stepping Down from Jestico + Whiles

01.09.2020

Heinz Richardson has stepped down from the practice this summer after 33 inspirational years.

Heinz has had a huge influence on every one of us at Jestico + Whiles and we owe him a collective debt of gratitude for the extraordinary leadership, dedication and inspiration

he has shown. Together with Tom Jestico + John Whiles, Heinz helped pioneer employee ownership, establishing the practice as one of the first Employee Benefit Trusts in 2003, playing a key role in growing it into the successful international practice it has become today.

Heinz’s expertise in housing and education and his passion for sustainability have been instrumental in establishing and inspiring these key aspects of the practice’s work. He is also a passionate educator and mentor, and a well-respected architectural critic and commentator. We will always be grateful to him for his indefatigable spirit, generosity and humanity, instilling in each of us an ethos which will endure.

In wishing him farewell, however, it would be remiss of us not to mention many of the memories. Over the years we have enjoyed international study trips, fancy dress parties and quiz nights, frequently curated and compèred by Heinz himself. Heinz will always be warmly part of our practice, and we wish him every success for the future.

Heinz leaves the practice in great shape, with many exciting projects in progress and an increasing breadth to our portfolio from schools and universities to mixed use residential developments alongside a rich selection of hospitality and interior design projects.
