MADs: Materiality, Architecture and Design with science is our week-long exhibition, part of the London Festival of Architecture programme this summer which holds the theme 'Work in Progress'. Running from 15 - 19 June, the exhibition will look at the application of existing and emerging technologies and materiality used in architectural design, and will present design proposals exploring aesthetic and technical possibilities offered by the uses of graphene in the built environment.
Alongside this, a collection of material will showcase the newly opened National Graphene Institute, a research centre at the University of Manchester dedicated to the study of the world's first 2D material: graphene, and its commercial applications. The exhibition will stimulate discussion and debate amongst designers, industry and the public about exploring the concept of new materials in the built environment.
