New Union Wharf features in NLA's new Public Housing exhibition and accompanying publication

16.05.2019

NLA’s latest research explores the resurgence taking place in the provision of new public housing in London. Extensive research together with contributions from industry experts has been combined with a project showcase to fully demonstrate the current picture of public housing.

The project showcase features our work on New Union Wharf, a comprehensive regeneration of a 1970s estate on the Isle of Dogs, replacing 189 social rent homes with 400 new dwellings for rent, shared ownership and private sale. Step-by-step consultation with residents has resulted in a street-based design that makes the most of the special riverside location and the existing community’s strong ties to the Isle of Dogs. The project is due to fully complete in 2022.

Research has formed a major exhibition and a publication; Public Housing: A London Renaissance, now available to download. The exhibition is on at The Building Centre until the 18th of July.
