This year's Ukraine SBID 'Get me 2 the Top' student competition was won by Liuba Kushnir, a student of the Kiev National University of Technology and Design. She won a 3 month internship at Jestico + Whiles on our interior design team, as well as an honorary SBID associate membership for one year, helping her to connect with the industry and gain new skills and connections. Liuba received her associate membership from Vanessa Brady at the SBID's House of Lords event in October, and is currently interning at Jestico + Whiles.
Open to local students and recent graduates, the competition was split into three categories including Public Space, Private Space and Product Design and saw a series of impressive submissions from students all over the country including Kiev, Odessa and Lviv. Participating universities included Lviv National University of Technology and National Aviation University amongst other high profile universities showing the highest level of ability and compliance with industry standards.
The competition was judged in two stages, with Ukrainian experts selecting the finalists while the winners were chosen by the UK judges. The overall winner title, awarded to Liuba, was for the candidate who could demonstrate evidence of informed reasoning behind decisions made, attention to detail and ability to follow the brief most closely.
