Post-occupancy evaluation is notoriously hard to capture. Once the scaffold comes down and people move in, it takes a real effort to gather valuable feedback on how the design of their environment affects their lives.
That's why we're incredibly proud to reveal our short film, Village Stories, in which residents of our Greenwich Millennium Village masterplan talk about their experiences living there, in their own words.
We were really clear when making the film that it wasn't about architecture. We didn't ask them about the buildings or the public realm. Instead, we asked them about their family, friends, neighbours; the sights, the sounds and smells; their experiences during lockdown, and opening up afterwards.
The picture that the film paints is of a true neighbourhood - a testament to the hard work of everyone at Jestico + Whiles and our partner organisations for the last 13 years, reminding us why we go to work each day.
