Burrell's Wharf / Jestico Whiles

Burrell's Wharf, where Brunel built the SS Great Eastern ship, is the only listed group of historic industrial buildings on the Isle of Dogs.

This residential-led mixed use development of workspace, retail, residential apartments and a large leisure facility incorporates some of the earliest loft-style apartments in UK, with double height and mezzanines exploiting expansive views over the Thames and Greenwich. The 360-unit development incorporates a variety of ancillary facilities including a swimming pool and health club.

This aesthetic is complemented by the new build components which are designed to respect the spirit of old docklands, utilising steel windows, pitched roofs, open lattice steel trusses and wide glazed doors.

Crisply detailed industrial materials are used in a fresh, considered way to facilitate modern living.

Hard surfaced spaces give the neighbourhood a relaxed urban quality more usually associated with continental cities.
