Hoxton is arguably one of London’s trendiest neighborhoods, with its plethora of stylish bars and hip residents. Open Kitchen fits in effortlessly with this environment.
The concept was to create a green oasis in gritty Hoxton, using fresh herbs to inform the graphic and interior design, and reflect the fresh food on offer. A ‘living wall’ of herbs lines the new entrance ramp. The terrace, providing a rare outdoor social space in Hoxton, is screened by herb-filled planters.
Jestico + Whiles designed the restaurant’s branding, including the menus, signage, wallpaper and colour scheme.
Upon closer inspection the design reveals a sense of humour: the wallpaper features archetypal Hoxton folk, and decorative plates - referencing the historic trend to display plates on walls - are given a contemporary twist and emblazoned with the restaurant’s graphics.
