Walpole Park & The Rickyard / Jestico Whiles

The Rickyard is a new £650k learning centre building located in Walpole Park, Ealing. It contains a classroom, public facilities, a cafe kiosk, park staff office and support facilities for park maintenance staff.

Walpole Park was originally the grounds of architect Sir John Soane’s country home Pitzhanger Manor, which we are also working on the restoration of.

The £2.6m park works were funded by HLF Parks for People and Ealing Council.

The objective of the project was to de-municipalise the park and recreate the regency landscape that would have existed in Soane’s time.

The work included renovation of the rustic bridge, reinstating the Serpentine lake and Soane’s shrubbery walk to revitalise and enhance elements of the original eighteenth century landscape.
