Wilton Plaza / Jestico Whiles

Located on a prominent central London corner site, this residential-led project emphasises quality, social inclusion and sustainability. The project, designed for Land Securities, achieves a more sustainable pattern of development by providing a wide variety of dwelling types, within a mixed community and mixed tenures. The brownfield site is located close to excellent transport links and the project exceeds normal standards for cycle parking, encouraging walking and cycling rather than car use.

158 student bedrooms and associated facilities are provided, clad in a dark brown pre-oxidised copper façade. It has affectionately become known as the chocolate box with a different student filling within each room.

The second phase incorporates 37 high-quality private apartments, and 74 key worker and affordable dwellings. Each benefits from excellent internal specifications and can use the beautifully landscaped communal landscaped gardens and terraces.

The design was at the leading edge of energy performance and robust design. It achieved an EcoHomes 'Excellent' rating, surpassed building regulation's minimum standards for acoustic properties and air leakage, and delivered 10% of its energy through renewable sources.
