School Stories
Jestico + Whiles has been designing schools since winning a competition to design a City Academy more than 20 years ago. The practice will soon complete its 100th school, and to celebrate this milestone, we’ve renewed our collaboration with filmmaker Dion Barrett and audio producer/photographer Flo Lines to produce School Stories, following last year’s award-winning project Village Stories.
What’s truly important in school design is not the architecture: it’s what goes on within the walls, the community the school embodies and how it supports young people and teachers in their learning. School Stories revisits a selection of Jestico + Whiles schools, using visual and audio testimony to hear directly from these communities how the school is working for them.
