Lauren Barhydt

Architect
I'm most fascinated by how the design of buildings and landscapes can enable communities to come together, share experiences, and take actions for the benefit of all.”

Lauren qualified as an architect in Canada, and practised there for a decade, working on projects ranging from the adaptive reuse of heritage buildings and bespoke residences to public realm and landscape projects. Since joining Jestico + Whiles in 2022, she has led on education and heritage projects.

Lauren has long been involved in sustainable design projects, her research focusing on low energy buildings for northern climates, dynamic façade systems, modular offsite constructions, and user interface systems that support sustainable behaviours. She is Passivhaus certified.

Passionate about both the social and technical aspects of sustainable design, Lauren is a core member of Jestico + Whiles’ sustainability team, Plus Zero. She is Passivhaus certified.
