James is a 2025 RIBAJ Rising Star
Huge congratulations to J+W architect James Anderson, who has been named one of this year’s RIBAJ Rising Stars.
James designed, tested and rolled out JESCA (Jestico + Whiles Early Stages Carbon Assessment), a tool that makes it easier to understand a project’s embodied carbon impact right from the outset. RIBAJ editor Eleanor Young described the tool as “practical action on climate change that enables early design decisions on carbon use”.
A key member of our sustainability team, Plus Zero, James delivers training on data-driven sustainable design and manages our carbon reduction plan. He has also led Royal Russell Junior School, one of our in-progress school projects, through the emerging UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard as a pilot project.
James follows in the footsteps of J+W associate Rhys Jones, a member of the first cohort of RIBAJ Rising Stars in 2016.
